The (Revised) Ultimate 53-man Roster

I wrote this thing on August 15th. After review, and some discussion with the football god, it became clear that I hadn't maximized the potential of my team, so I changed some things. Here is the new team. This time, instead of comparing my choices to Mark Dominik, I'm going to compare them to my old choices. Finally, some REAL competition.

QB: Russell Wilson, Nick Foles. Same logic as last time. Still the best talent at the lowest price.

Why I got better: N/A.

RB: Alfred Morris, Danny Woodhead, Eddie Lacy, Bruce Miller. We downgraded by dropping Lacy, but we'e still got a great runner in Morris, a versatile... football player... in Woodhead, and a thug in Eddie Lacy. Miller's still a great FB.

Why I got better: Saved money. But I like the versatility Woodhead brings. Still, though, clearly less talent now.

WR: Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Dez Bryant, TY Hilton, Keenan Allen, Jermaine Kearse. Big changes here. I added Calvin because he's head-and-shoulders above every other WR in the league. This necessitated dropping some other talent, but I'm more than happy with my starting three WRs. Hilton and Allen are both talented guys with the potential to improve a LOT. And Kearse is Kearse.

Why I got better: Calvin. Johnson.

TE: Jimmy Graham, Julius Thomas, Coby Fleener. No change.

Why I got better: N/A.

OL: Joe Staley, Evan Mathis, Jason Kelce, Josh Sitton, Sebastian Vollmer, Lamar Holmes, Kyle Long, Brian De la Puente, Larry Warford, Tyson Clabo. No change.

Why I got better: N/A.

DL: JJ Watt, Muhammad Wilkerson, Cameron Jordan, Corey Liuget, Dontari Poe, Sheldon Richardson, Star Lotulelei. Same players.

Why I got better: N/A.

ILB: Lavonte David, Patrick Willis, Bobby Wagner, Akeem Jordan. Basically traded Kuechly for Willis here.

Why I got better: Good trade.

OLB: Justin Houston, Robert Quinn, Ryan Kerrigan, O'Brien Schofield. Dropped Aldon Smith. Which, given the state of the season, isn't a loss.

Why I got better: I like Schofield? I didn't really though.

CB: Richard Sherman, Darrelle Revis, Brandon Boykin, Byron Maxwell, Desmond Trufant, Logan Ryan. Got Revis. Boykin's apparently a good slot corner?

Why I got better: Revis and Boykin top Grimes and Tillman.

S: Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Raheem Moore, Tyrann Mathieu. I got the two best safeties in the league.

Why I got better: I went from the second- or third-best safeties in the league at each position to the top players.

ST: Greg Zuerlein, Johnny Hekker, Clint Gresham. Same.

Why I got better: N/A.

Total: $132.368 million. I have about $603,300 left, which I can't spend anywhere.

To summarize: A few small declines, and a bunch of huge improvements.
